Stabilizer Solutions, Inc. is excited to partner with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to present the 2009 Field of the Year Award to honor outstanding grounds maintenance and exceptional playing surfaces for one college and one high school facility each year. This years’ winners will be recognized at the 26th Annual NFCA Convention as well as in the Fastpitch Delivery publication.

The Biodesign Institute is not only the new “green” gateway to the campus of Arizona State University, but also to sustainable practices in the arid Southwest. The aim of the new research institute is to prevent and cure disease and overcome pain and injury, and the design echoes this purpose. The mesquite bosque (forest) shares the amphitheater space with the permeable Stabilizer® and decomposed granite, healing the ground that was once covered by asphalt.

University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals was recently voted the best playing surface in an NFL players poll conducted by Sports Illustrated. Considered one of the top ten sporting structures in the world, the field is the only one of its kind in the U.S. The 94,000 square foot playing field retracts 714 feet from inside to outside the stadium.
Softball performance is directly dependent on the quality of the field it is played on. The NFCA’s next focus is to raise the level of the softball playing surface to improve the game. It is an honor for Stabilizer Solutions to be the official playing surface of the NFCA and we are happy to award those fields that have taken that next step to raise the level of the game.

Why does Barney care what your field looks like? Barney believes that all kids from his own elementary schoolers, to the young at heart senior leaguers should have access to great fields- and great fields are possible for any budget with the right techniques.
